Installing the new Frame Mon (Kernal) on Kalypso Frame.

All kalypso software version 4 and higher needs a one-time
install of an updated kernal (called Frame Mon) on the frame.
The new Frame Mon and its companion install program are supplied
on a floppy diskettte, which is run from the Menu.

The new Frame Mon should be installed BEFORE the upgrade is
made to version 4 software.  If the new Frame Mon is not 
installed before the version 4 Kalypso install program is
run, however, a WARNING will pop up before the Kalypso 
frame software download begins.

Steps to install the new Frame Mon:

1) Reboot the frame in switch position 1: move the bottom 10-position
rotary switch on the frame cpu board to position 1, press and release
the reset switch.  The frame will take 20-30 seconds to boot in switch
position 1.

2) Exit the Menu.

3) Insert the suppled "Frame Mon Install" diskette into the Menu
Floppy Diskette drive.

4) From the Menu "Start" button, select "Run", "browse", A: drive,
and select A:\InstallFrameMon.exe", <open>.  Press "OK" to run it.

5) In about 10 seconds (it is loading from Floppy Diskette) the
"InstallFrameMon" main screen will pop up.  

6) The main screen will remind you to be sure that you have restarted
the frame in switch position 1 (it REALLY is important to do this,
failure to do this step may result in a damaged frame disk that will
need to be returned to the factory for a low-level reformat). <OK>.

7) A pop-up alert will AGAIN warn you about having rebooted the frame.

8) While running, will display progress messages "Getting FTP Address
of Frame...", "Deleting old kernal...", and "Writing new kernal...".
If a failure occurs, install stops and a message pops up:

	"Kernal install failed"

and the next line explains the fault:
	"getting Frame IP address"
or
	"Could not open FTP connection to the frame."
or
	"The kernal on the frame disk is not upgradable."
or
	"Could not find the kernal on the frame disk."
or
	"deleting old kernal"
or
	"transferring new kernal"

The first error most likely means that the menu and frame are not
connected, check the Ethernet wiring.  Either of the others
are serious and require a call to Tech Support.

There is an "ignore errors during install" mode that may be used as
a last resort at your risk: by appending a '-' to the command line:
	A:\InstallFrameMon.exe -"
error checks (except for ftp open) are not made.  This is a very risky
procedure for use only as a last resort in order to salvage a frame disk
that has been damaged by a power-outage during kernal transfer or a similar
calamity.

9) A normal completion is signaled with a pop-up saying:
	"Kernal (framemon.bin) installed correctly.
	 Please place frame switch in position 0 and restart frame."

Remove the Floppy diskette, and you are done with Frame Mon Install. 
At this time, you may wish to being the install of the new kalypso
software from the CDRom.
