Add the UMD Port

To operate displays, they must be connected to a tally system interface (TSI) port. Many displays can be operated through one port.
  • In the last row of the table, click the box under the column labeled Port Name.
  • In the box, type a name for the port. The name must be unique and should reflect the specific device connected to the port such as PCRLEFT, UMD1, or DSPA. Keep it short because this name will appear in other tables when configuring the tally system.

Choose the TSI connected to the Display Device

  • Click the box under the column labeled TSI Tally Controller Unit.
  • Click the drop-down menu arrow in the box and select the TSI that is connected to the display device.

Choose the Type of Display Device

  • Click the box under the column labeled Protocol.
  • Click the drop-down menu arrow in the box and select the manufacturer and model of the display device or select the protocol used by the display device to accept tally information.

Specify the Display Device Settings

Depending on the protocol selected, some boxes located within the Device Configuration pane may become selectable. Some display devices use a serial port to connect to the TSI while others use Ethernet with single or multiple IP addresses.

Specify the Serial Display Device Settings

  • Click the box labeled Primary COM Port.
  • Click the drop-down menu arrow in the box and select the TSI communication port that connects the display devices to the TSI.
  • Most displays devices use standard communication settings, but if this router uses non-standard settings, click the check box labeled Override Comm Settings and specify all communication settings directly.

Specify the Ethernet Single Display Device Settings

  • Click the box labeled IP Addr #1.
  • Enter the IP address of the display device's external communication module in standard dotted format.
  • Most display devices use a standard Ethernet port number, but if this device uses a non-standard port, click the check box at the right of the IP address box and in the adjacent box labeled Port, enter the port number. This box is only available for some display devices.

Specify the Ethernet Multiple Display Device Settings

  • Click the box labeled IP Address.
  • Enter the IP address of a display device's external communication module in standard dotted format.
  • Click the button labeled Add.
Repeat for additional displays that are to operate on this port. If adding devices with sequential IP addresses, click the button labeled Increment.
