Add the Tally Output (GPO)

GPOs provide tallied conditions that can be connected to external equipment such as CCUs, studio on-air lights or monitor tally lights.
  • In the last row of the table, click the box under the column labeled GPI Output Name.
  • In the box, type a name for the GPO. The name must be unique.

Specify the GPO Settings

  • Click the box under the column labeled Output Address.
  • Enter the location of the GPO within this GPO device. The first GPO is located at zero.
  • Click the box under the column labeled # of Outputs.
  • Enter the total number of physical GPOs that this GPO is to control. When the GPO was added, the most common setting of one was assumed.

Select a GPO Monitoring Style

The selected monitoring style determines what type of information activates the GPO. Choose a source type of monitoring style to make the GPO always indicate tally for the same source. Choose a destination type of monitoring style to make the GPO indicate tally for the source that is routed to the same destination.
  • Click the box under the column labeled Monitoring Style.
  • Click the drop-down menu arrow in the box and select the desired monitoring style.

Assign a Source to a GPO

  • Drag the desired source name from left pane over to the table in the right pane.
  • Drop the source over the box in the same row as the GPO under the column labeled Monitoring Style.

Add a Destination to be Monitored on a GPO

  • In the last row of the table, click the box under the column labeled Destination Name.
  • In the box, type a name for the destination. The name must be unique.
  • On the same row as the destination, click to box under the column labeled Output Device.
  • Click the drop-down menu arrow in the box and select the switching equipment that contains the destination.
  • On the same row as the destination, click to box under the column labeled Output Name.
  • Depending on type of the switching equipment, a pop-up menu of possible choices may appear. If the desired output name does not appear, click Close.
  • Enter an output identifier in a form accepted by that switching equipment. Most switching equipment accepts numeric output identifiers. Some routing switchers accept the same destination name that appears in the equipment's configuration system.

Assign a Destination to a GPO

  • Drag the desired destination name from left pane over to the table in the right pane.
  • Drop the destination over the box in the same row as the GPO under the column labeled Monitoring Style.

Select a GPO Tally Area

The active tally condition for a GPO is determined once the displayed source reaches a designated destination (such as a production switcher on-air program output) known as a tally area. A tally system can have several tally areas. Generally, there is one tally area for each production switcher.
  • Click the box under the column labeled Tally Area.
  • Click the drop-down menu arrow in the box and select the tally area for this GPO.
