Add a Signal Path

A signal path must be added to the tally system if there is an inter-connection between switching equipment that can carry a source that may be tallied. This is usually a connection from the output of a routing switcher to the input of a production switcher.
  • In the last row of the table, click the box under the column labeled Interconnect Name.
  • In the box, type a name for the inter-connection. The name must be unique. It is common to use a name that refers to the origin of the inter-connection.

Specify the Origin of the Signal Path

  • Click to box under the column labeled Signal Origin Device.
  • Click the drop-down menu arrow in the box and select the switching equipment that contains the originating destination.
  • Click to box under the column labeled Signal Origin Output.
  • Depending on type of the switching equipment, a pop-up menu of possible choices may appear. If the desired output name does not appear, click Close.
  • Enter an output identifier in a form accepted by that switching equipment. Most switching equipment accepts numeric output identifiers. Some routing switchers accept the same destination name that appears in the equipment's configuration system.

Specify the Endings of the Signal Path

In the remaining columns of the table, there is a column labeled for each switcher and each level of each router.
  • On the same row, click to box under the desired column of switching equipment.
  • Depending on type of the switching equipment, a pop-up menu of possible choices may appear. If the desired connection does not appear, click Close.
  • Enter an input identifier in a form accepted by that switching equipment. Most switching equipment accepts numeric input identifiers. Some routing switchers accept the same source name that appears in the equipment's configuration system.
Repeat for additional endings that apply to this signal path.
