===================================================================== Welcome to CCS Navigator! ===================================================================== This CCS Navigator DVD contains a 30-day license so you can try out all of Navigator's features, before deciding which features you will use in your facility. When your 30-day license expires, Navigator will revert to Build mode, and you will not be able to build or use Graphical Navigation pages, control or monitor CCS devices, or use third-party products via SNMP. License options include: * NAVIGATOR-DEV (Device Control, formerly known as Pilot) This license allows you to use device control and monitoring, so you can set and view parameters and alarms, configure, control and monitor routing devices, and diagnose and correct problems. * NAVIGATOR-SRV (Navigator Server) This license includes all the functionality of NAVIGATOR-DEV. It allows administrator users to create customized graphical navigation pages, run discoveries, and create RouterMapper configurations. Using graphical tools, an administrator can create easy-to-use pages that visually represent a network’s many devices, systems, and environments. These graphical pages, called Navigator pages, can consolidate network-wide status monitoring and troubleshooting tasks. Pages can associate actions, such as loading a page or creating a configuration, with graphical objects, such as buttons, symbols, and images, that represent items in a network environment. Administrator users can grant or deny individual Client systems (other PCs on the network which have NAVIGATOR-CLI licenses) access to pages, presets, and devices. * NAVIGATOR-SNMP This license allows you to create pages and panels that will monitor and control SNMP-enabled devices. * NAVIGATOR-CLI (Navigator Client) This license includes the Control mode functionality of NAVIGATOR-DEV and the graphical navigation capabilities of NAVIGATOR-SRV. This application requires one instance of NAVIGATOR-SRV on the network. It allows operator users to retrieve graphical navigation pages and presets, and access devices for control and monitoring purposes. Users can control devices and operate pages to which they have been granted permissions, and they can load and create presets. * ICONM-SCP (IconMaster Software Control Panel) In addition to faster access to many of the operational feature submenus and audio meters, a panel created with this license can fully control IconMaster switchers. This license is designed to work optimally with a 19" touchscreen monitor (1280x1024 recommended). This license cannot be installed on a system with any other Navigator licenses. * ICONM-SCP-LITE Intended for use with a touch-screen monitor, an ISCP-LITE panel and must be physically and logically paired with an IconMaster Hardware Remote Control Panel. It does not work in cooperation with any other licence keys. The control panel has tools for setting some IconMaster configuration options, provides audio information for the hardware control panel, and provides sub-panels to adjust various settings on that panel. * NAVIGATOR-NX This license allows you to control and monitor NEXIO servers from graphical navigation pages specifically designed for that purpose. * NAVIGATOR-INT This license allows you to drag and drop parameters and alarms onto GUI pages. By mixing and matching multiple devices, you can build virtual device control and monitoring surfaces, such as Alarm Network Walls. This license can be added to either the CCS Server license (NAVIGATOR-SRV) or the Enhanced SNMP license (NAVIGATOR-SNMP). Pages created with the InterfaceNAV plug-in can be controlled and monitored by Navigator Client systems. * NAVIGATOR-RTR License The NAVIGATOR-RTR license does not work in cooperation with any other license keys. Using this license in Build mode, you can configure any device and create control panels for routers using the Wizard. In Control mode, you can do CCS-P control of all Harris routers, including Platinum, Integrator, and Panacea. You can control devices using default software control panels and custom software control panels created in Build mode. If you do not purchase a license, after 30 days your Navigator install will revert to its basic CoPilot functionality. You will be able to configure IP addresses on connected CCS devices, upload software upgrades to those same CCS devices, and set up menu hierarchies of CCS devices. You will also be able to configure some devices, such as NUCLEUS control panels. CCS Navigator supports the following devices: * CCS control panels * CCS gateways (including router, DigiBus and EDGE-DPS575 gateways) * NEO, 6800+, and Genesis frames, modules and resource modules * DPS-575, X75, X85, and DFS synchronizers * DigiBus modules * SNMP-compliant devices * HTTP-controlled devices * IconMaster systems * Router systems * Harris Digital Legalizers * Amino STB * CENTRIO, Suiteview, and Predator multiviewers * NEXIO servers * NetVX devices * SQM devices ===================================================================== Table of Contents ===================================================================== * Installation Overview * Required Hardware for Navigator Server * Recommended Hardware for Navigator Server * Required Hardware for Navigator Client * Configuring a PC Monitor for Best Display * Required Operating System * Preparing a PC Running Windows Vista, Windows XP SP3, Windows Server 2003 SP2, Windows 7 or Window Server 2008 SP2 on 32 bit platform for Installation * Prerequisite Third-Party Software * Installing the Required Third-Party Software * Order of Installation for 3.0 Software and Firmware * Requirements for Router Devices * Requirements for Using the Signal Monitor Tool * Installing the Navigator Software * If Setup Detects No Previous Installations * If Setup Detects a Previous Installation * Logging On * Adding Licenses * Copyrights and Trademarks * Software User License and Warranty * Contacting Customer Service * X75 Note * ZConfigurator/ZUpgrade Locations * Router Control FAQ * Operational Notes When Using Windows Vista * Enable Scanning IP Addresses * High End Video Streaming Controls ______________ For the following matters, please see the Navigator User Manual, available as an Adobe Acrobat PDF file on the Installation DVD as well as in printed form from Harris, or consult the Navigator Online Help: * Removing the Navigator Software * Suggested Troubleshooting Steps * Solutions to Common Problems ===================================================================== Installation Overview ===================================================================== You must install certain required hardware and software before you can install and operate the CCS Navigator software. ===================================================================== Required Hardware for Navigator Server ===================================================================== Install the CCS Navigator Server software on a PC that meets or exceeds the following hardware requirements: * 3 GHz Pentium IV processor minimum * 1 GB SDRAM * 5-GB free disk space minimum * 100BaseT network connection * 40 GB HDD drive * DVD-ROM drive * Super VGA supporting 1152 × 864 (19-inch recommended) (See "Configuring a PC Monitor for Best Display.") * Any video card compatible with DirectX (See "Requirements for Using the Signal Monitor Tool.") ===================================================================== Recommended Hardware for Navigator Server ===================================================================== Install the CCS Navigator Server software on a PC that meets or exceeds the following hardware requirements: * Core 2 Duo - 2.39 Ghz * 3 GB SDRAM * 5 GB free disk space minimum * 100BaseT network connection * 40 GB HDD drive * DVD-ROM drive * Super VGA supporting 1152 × 864 (19-inch recommended) (See "Configuring a PC Monitor for Best Display.") * Any video card compatible with DirectX (See "Requirements for Using the Signal Monitor Tool.") ===================================================================== Required Hardware for Navigator Client ===================================================================== Install the CCS Navigator Server software on a PC that meets or exceeds the following hardware requirements: * 3 GHz Pentium IV processor minimum (Core 2 Duo - 2.39 Ghz recommended) * 1 GB SDRAM (2 GB recommended) * 1-GB free disk space minimum * 100BaseT network connection * 20 GB HDD drive * DVD-ROM drive * Super VGA supporting 1152 × 864 (19-inch recommended) (See "Configuring a PC Monitor for Best Display.") * Any video card compatible with DirectX (See "Requirements for Using the Signal Monitor Tool.") ===================================================================== Configuring a PC Monitor for Best Display ===================================================================== For CCS software to show clearly and appropriately on a PC monitor, set the Display Properties for the monitor to 1152 × 864 resolution with small fonts. A: Because the Take button is not enabled, Salvos are activated as soon as you select them. Therefore, you will not be able to select more than one Salvo at a time. If you need to select more than one salvo, then you should turn the Take button option on with the Panel Wizard utility. Q: Why can't I use the Lock/Protect buttons to lock or protect salvos when I have the Take button disabled? A: When the Take button is disabled, the Salvos are active/taken as soon as the user selects them. If you need to lock/protect a certain salvo when the Take button is disabled, right click the mouse while over the desired salvo and select the menu option to Lock/Protect the desired Salvo. Q: WHy doesn't the video display properly When I switch from Build to Control mode when I am using the video monitoring option with the single bus panel? A: Select the single-bus video monitoring window and right click to verify that the color and contrast settings are set to a value that is viewable. ===================================================================== Operational Notes When Using Windows Vista ===================================================================== When running Navigator in user mode in Vista SP1, if the 'Enable Scanning IP addresses" checkbox is grayed out, to enable scanning IP addresses, follow these steps: 1.
