PERC 2000 Update Procedure NOTE: The "PERC2000" Main App" can take 6 to 20 minutes to update. Wait for the GUI to confirm the update has happened. If the GUI has not confirmed the update after about 30 minutes, then there is a problem. Exit from the PERC2000 GUI "Flash Utility" screen and then exit from the PERC2000 GUI. Restart the GUI and enter the "Flash Utility" screen. Attempt to check the PERC 2000 System Controller you just updated. If the GUI does not display the PERC 2000, then you will have to reset the PERC 2000, wait a few minutes (3 or 4), and reenter the "Flash Utility" screen. If you still cannot see the PERC 2000 System Controller, then you should call us. The other files should take less than a minute to update. 1. Create a directory (folder) for the unzipped files. 2. Unzip the files. 3. Start the PERC2000.exe. Doubling clicking the file will start the PERC2000 GUI 4. Select "Flash Utility" under the "Help" menu in the PERC2000 GUI. A "Flash Utility" screen will be displayed. 5. Select the System Controller you want to update. NOTE: Update one system controller first. After all of the updates have been applied to one system controller, make sure that system controller works before updating the next system controller. 6. Select "Update Flash" for the "PERC2000 Main Boot" module. A "Open Flash Update File..." dialog box will be displayed. 8 Select P2KMainBoot_V3_1_3-18-2009.pbn using the "Open Flash Update File..." dialog box. You should see a "PERC 2000" dialog box indicating "File OK for flashing" and "OK to proceed?". 9. Select the "Yes" button from the "PERC 2000" dialog box. The PERC2000.exe GUI will indicate when the update has finished. 10. Exit from the "Flash Utility" screen after the update has finished. The software versions being displayed on the "Flash Utility" screen do not automatically update. 11. Repeat steps 5 - 10 using the remaining PBN file. Except for the version and date, the name of the PBN file matches the name displayed in the PERC2000 GUI "Flash Utility" screen. "PERC2000 Main App" using P2KMainApp_V3_4_3-12-2009.pbn --- Takes minutes to update. 12. After the "PERC2000 Main App" has been updated (and the GUI acknowledges the update has finished, you will need to exit the "Flash Utility" screen and reset the PERC 2000 System Controller so that the "PERC2000 Main App" update takes affect. 13. After the PERC 2000 System Controller comes back up (after 3 or 4 minutes), you should be able to connect to it with the GUI and download a configuration. 14. If you reenter the "Flash Utility" screen after you performed all of the updates (and reset the system controller) and select the PERC 2000 System Controller you just updated, then you should see the following: Module Type Module Version Module Update Protocol 1.0 N/A Hardware 1.0 N/A PERC2000 Main Boot 3.1 Update Flash PERC2000 Main Debug 2.0 Update Flash PERC2000 Main App 4.1 Update Flash PERC2000 Main CPLD ??.?? PERC2000 RT CPU Boot 2.0 Update Flash PERC2000 RT CPU Copy 2.0 Update Flash PERC2000 RT CPU Burn 2.0 Update Flash PERC2000 RT CPU App. 3.0 Update Flash NOTE: The version of the PERC2000 Main CPLD will not change from what it was originally. PERC 2000 version 3.0 and greater requires the CPLD to be version 0.22 (or greater) - this is required for dual system controllers.
