============================================== Network Radio Programmer R02.00.00 ============================================== Introduction: ==================== Network Radio Programmer provides the ability to read-from and write-to a radio attached to a remotely located computer. Please refer to the CPS help to get more details on this feature. System Requirements: ==================== 1) Windows 2000 Professional SP2 Windows XP Home Edition Windows XP Professional 2) Computers should meet minimum CPS requirements in terms of processor speed and memory. Please refer to the CPS readme for these requirements. 3) CPS version R05.01.00 or greater gets installed in one computer(CPS PC) and the Network Radio Programmer application installed in the second computer (Remote PC). 4) Both computers need to be connected through a network. This network can be an Intranet(LAN) or Internet. In Internet case, the Remote PC needs to have a public IP address to allow other PC to connect to it. Radio Models Supported: ============================================== - Radio Network Programmer only supports IP capable radios. Installation: ============= Network Radio Programmer is located on the CPS CD-ROM. 1) Uninstall the previous version of NetworkRadioProgrammer before installing this version of "NetworkRadioProgrammer". 2) Using your Windows Explorer program, browse to the “NetworkRadioProgrammer” folder in the CPS CD. 3) Double click on the “Setup.Exe” file in the “NetworkRadioProgrammer” folder in the CPS CD-ROM. The installation wizard will walk you through the installation of this application. Firewall and Network Setting: ============================= 1) Check Firewall setting: If a firewall is running on either of the machines, make sure it does not block the network channels used by Network Radio Programmer. For Intranet programming, the used channel number is 8003. For internet programming, the standard HTTP channel 80 is used. 2) Network setting: In Internet radio programming, your network needs to be configured to rout incoming HTTP requests to the Remote PC. Start the Network Radio Programmer: =================================== 1) Once the Network Radio Programmer application has been installed, connect the radio to the computer where this application resides and make sure the radio is properly connected and is powered on. 2 From the Windows “Start” menu, select “Programs”, “Motorola”, “Network Radio Programmer”. The Select COM Port window will appear. 3) Select the port where the radio is connected: COM or USB. 4) Click OK to continue.(The Network Radio Programmer is loaded.) 5) This radio is now ready to be programmed remotely from any other computer networked with this computer either through LAN or the Internet. Connecting the PC to the Radio: =============================== Use the following direct PC to radio cables: For Mobile radios: RS232 cable = HKN-6155 For Portable radios: RS232 cable = RKN4106 USB cable = RKN4105 Note that the USB cable can be used only with portable radios. 1) When using the USB cable, be sure to always click "Yes" on the Digital Signature window whenever it is displayed by your operating system.
