Checking the Server MAC Address

To install software on the server, you must enter an installation key.
To get an installation key, supply the server MAC address to your Sony service representative. You will be sent an installation key calculated from the MAC address.
To check the server MAC address, proceed as follows.
  1. Log in as root.

    When GUI has not started, type "startx".

  2. Select the menus in the order of: System > Accessories or System Tools > Terminal.

    A terminal window opens.

  3. Enter the command "ifconfig em1" and press the Enter key. (Red Hat Enterprise Linux V6)
    Or, enter the command "ifconfig eth0" and press the Enter key. (except Red Hat Enterprise Linux V6)



    The MAC address appears after "HWaddr" (D4:AE:52:C8:00:87 in the illustration above).
